If you put oil and water in a glass, the oil will rise to the surface and prevent the evaporation of water. The skin retains its moisture in a similar way, producing an invisible oily layer on its surface. The best way to help the skin stop losing moisture is to strengthen this layer. Traditional products for dry skin (creams, lotions and butters) contain on average about 20% oil, wax or butter for this purpose.
