Monoï, a centuries-old tradition
Monoï has been an integral part of Tahiti culture for over 2,000 years. With great tradition, Monoï is much more than a cosmetic ingredient. They used it exclusively in traditional rituals. It is now an integral part of the everyday life of Polynesians with uses such as baby massage, facials or even strengthening the legendary hair of exotic Tahiti beauties. There are as many different recipes with Monoi oil as the polynesia islands. Knowledge is passed down from generation to generation. But there are some common elements between all these recipes: the ground fruit of ripe coconuts as well as the fresh or dried Tiare flowers, the iconic Tahiti flower.
Monoï oil: protected designation of origin
There have been many attempts to copy the Monoi oil. In order to protect itself, in 1992 the designation of origin was officially recognized, ensuring its authenticity, local Polynesian production and authenticity.
